Israel-based Millero has stopped by to talk with us about his debut EP on Renaissance, music things, and more.

Millero is one of Israel’s rapidly ascending talents. He’s carved a path through the indie and melodic techno scenes from his home in Israel, a nation that is undoubtedly at the forefront of electronic music right now and, as a result, a competitive hotspot, in the course of just two short years (so, much of it during the epidemic). He truly is an example of genius standing out in a sea of brightness.

Hello Roy, thank you for joining us. How are you, and where are you staying now?

Hey, it’s my pleasure! I’m great, I’m living in Haifa, this is a city in the north of Israel. I just got into a new house with a new studio so that’s a great feeling :).

You’re quite new in the dance music industry and you are already releasing music on well-respected labels. Could you tell us more about yourself? How long have you been producing music?

I’m 24, I started DJing around the age of 14 at some small parties and birthdays and with time I started to play more in bars & clubs. I started production 2 years ago. Most of my days are spent in the studio. I wake up in the morning, make myself a cup of coffee, and get into the studio.

Your new release ‘Old Friend EP’ just got released today on Renaissance Records. What’s so special about it for you?

I really like this EP, it combines different vibes of tracks, ‘Old Friend’ is a dancefloor banger, ‘Twisted Mind’ is propper indie dance and ‘Yeled Gadol’ is a more emotional one. I’ve been playing this EP over and over again in my sets in the last year and it’s working really well on the dancefloor!

Another celebration is that this week marks the 1st anniversary of Millero. How do you think your music has evolved since the first release?

WOW, first of all, that’s a big moment for me, I’m really excited about this. I didn’t expect my first release to get so much attention from a very big label like ‘Engrave’, along with a great remix by Musumeci & Dodi Palese. It was played by big names like Ame, Lehar, and Hernan Cattaneo. Since the first release, my music has evolved to be with more groovy basslines and catchy vocals that work on the dancefloor and keep the crowd going. My music style evolved to more dancefloor vibes because in my gigs I play more of my original music and I learned what works on the dancefloor.

What element do you spend the most time on?

Most of my tracks are built around vocals, so the element I spend the most time on is finding a good vocal and working on that.

We know that you are from Israel, what is it like living in Israel?

I love living in Israel, it is a beautiful country. There are a lot of places to see, and visit, and the food is great. The music scene here is very strong, there are many good talents and amazing parties every week. I invite you to come and check by yourself :).

What was the first song you listened to this morning?

Drake – Sticky

Finally, what plans do you have for this year?

There are a lot of new Millero releases until the end of the year. Big shows to come in Israel and abroad too!
