The Desert Hearts Family has found itself at the center of a dusty movement, fostering intimate experiences of sonic joy and unbounded love across the globe. Part boutique festival, part record label, and part globetrotting party brigade, this ragtag crew of dreamers has emerged as a vibe-focused force radiating a conscious ethos of House, Techno and Love. Desert Hearts has given rise to a family of tens of thousands and it’s safe to say the Love Movement isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
In 2022 Beth Lydi released her much acclaimed first LP “This is Love” on their house oriented label Desert Hearts Records, and with that came the idea for a collaboration with Change the Beat for a remix contest. Change the Beat (formerly #23by23) partners with record labels and assists them in discovering and signing female or gender non-conforming producers. It’s a campaign from Sydney Blu which was created with the help of DJ Rebekah and Native Instruments.
The campaign is a call to action for all record labels in electronic music, regardless of size and stature, to help boost the percentage of women, trans and non-binary artists signed and discovered by various dance music imprints (the percentage currently averages less than 5%), a message that lies at the heart of the Desert Hearts message of inclusion and love. Beth Lydi is a Berlin-based DJ, producer and label boss of her own label SNOE. She continues to grow as a rising name within the realms of house and tech house. Raised in Oslo, Lydi’s recent material has taken her stateside with a series of releases via DIRTYBIRD, Percomaniacs and Desert Hearts Records, where she released the original ‘This Is Love’.
From more than 30 competition entries 3 remixes were chosen as the top 3 and will now be released one the label as well. Sivz won first place and delivers the first remix. Sivz is an artist born out of relentless hard work and passion for the party. Using catchy lyric writing, intricate percussion, rhythmic vocal chops, and dominant vocals as her ultimate tools for expression, her releases on Farris Wheel Recordings, Monstercat, and Force of Habit have received support from industry veterans like Chris Lake, CID and Claptone.
The second remix comes from Sagia. Sagia’s musical style is characterised by instrumentally rich sounds with solid bass line and spatial & energetic vibes of melodic house & techno. Her musical sensitivity and drive translates into her own productions and remixes. Sagia has always been fascinated with the positive energy of music and has played in the UK, US, Spain, Poland, France, Cyprus, Malta & The Netherlands and at official events during WMC (Miami) & ADE (Amsterdam). She accompanied many of her favourite DJs and producers such as Umek, Oxia, Coyu and Tiger Stripes to name a few.
Coming in hot with the third remix is DOMii. DOMii is making creative waves both stateside and all across the planet! Fresh off releases on Maison Fauna Records, Brooklyn Fire Records, and Hau5trap, DOMii brings a unique and raw style w/ her live performances and original music that is only matched by impressive technical aptitude. A fixture in the South east music scene, she also has spearheaded “Housework CLT” an underground dance music party in collaboration with Nomad Talent and “Girls Room” a party celebrating queer women in music & art. As a DJ there is no genre or style safe when Domii is at the controls, but she remains an expert at maintaining that essential house groove.
