Pierre-Kasztan Marie’s sound profile sits at the crossroads of electronica and techno, with layered cinematic sensibilities and a post-rock audio experience.

Kasztan has already released two fully immersive EPs, “Celeste” and “Rare Earth Elements,” and now he provides the third and final part of his first triptych. The latest 3-track “Unbleach” EP tells an exciting story—the transformation of Kasztan’s as a musician who fell in love with electronic music and integrates the richness and variety of the scene’s past and present into his work, inspired by hybrid electronic music projects and his expansive music consumption. The cover is a project of French artist Lionel Vivier, based on Isabel Urbina’s work as an undersea ecologist who collects coral colonies through photogrammetry, echoing the EP’s combination of analog and digital textures. Kasztan’s Unbleach” EP is now available for streaming across all platforms, adding to his impressive discography.

The “Unbleach” EP is a reflection of Kasztan’s metamorphosis as he found himself caught up in a frenzy of music discovery and encounters with blurred genre boundaries, paying homage to the experimental and eclectic sounds of musicians such as Moderat, Jon Hopkins, Logic1000, Ross from Friends, Lawrence Hart, and more. ‘4Thee,’ the first tune on the three-tracker, is unquestionably Kasztan’s most dancefloor-oriented track to date. His flowing and more anthemic production style is highlighted in this furious techno-inspired cavalcade atop a bed of organ layers and gospel flights. ‘4Thee‘ weaves a slew of musical references from the past and present into an epic climax that transports listeners to a state of visceral sound euphoria.

The following two songs immerse listeners in the effervescence of a contemporary in which references overlap and genre boundaries are more porous than ever. “TSIAWS” maintains the link and continuity with the past of electronic music by taking the reins. The track expands on the French talent’s cinematic sensibilities with a whirlwind of sophisticated synth components and delicate percussive beats.

The EP’s last opus, “Alive,” delves into a world of warping textures and collapsible beats, offering a cathartic conclusion to the “Unbleach” EP’s voyage. The tune, which is rife with rhythmic components and vibrant vocal cuts, takes inspiration from UK Garage and 2step, as well as IDM and pop in general. ‘Alive‘ is the outcome of a fantasy encounter between Sault, Aphex Twin, and Overmono. It’s an energy booster with several distinctly English references.
