Yaya, the head of Tamango Records, has unveiled a captivating new EP ‘Me Gusta.’

Yaya has just dropped his new EP ‘Me Gusta‘ on the well-respected NATURE label, which has previously made waves with artists like Funk Cartel, Alessandro Diruggiero, Italobros, and their standout frontman wAFF. Yaya’s unique blend of African roots and Italian influence shines through in this new release, continuing Italy’s growing reputation in the global electronic music scene.

‘Me Gusta’, released on October 11th, features five tracks that capture Yaya’s signature style. The EP opens with the title track ‘Me Gusta,’ featuring chunky drum grooves, analogue bass, vocal chops, and quirky sample shots over a shuffled percussive drive. The combined elements show off Yaya’s unique sonic identity. The next track, ‘Logic Routine‘ gives the listeners punchy beats, jacking percussive flair, and more cathartic analogue low-end weight. The subtle, spaced-out melodic injections before ‘Maximo Delicioso‘ bridge the gap into the second half of the EP with an eerie, bouncy persona, building around other robust elements: groovy bassline and rippling musicality.

Blocked‘ brings brighter, more vivid harmonics and textures. The track manages to retain Yaya’s archetypically minimal sounds. The track is a hefty roller with a brilliantly constructed array of funky sounds; it bounces off its endlessly danceable core. ‘Step Mode‘ rounds off the release emphatically by presenting itself as a percussive-heavy delight. Orbiting a catchy bassline melody centerpiece, the track stands out as another proof of Yaya’s immense understanding of intricate instrumental placement to create energetic, movement-inspiring grooves delicately complemented by rich and immersive melodic factors

Yaya’s journey began in Turin, where his father’s involvement influenced him in the “M’bamina” ensemble. After cutting his teeth as a drummer, Yaya transitioned into the world of electronic music, joining Desolat in 2009 and eventually founding Tamango Records in 2016. Today, Yaya’s eclectic sound and deep understanding of rhythm have made him a fixture in top European clubs and festivals like SONAR and Elrow New York. Fans can now experience Yaya’s latest evolution by diving into Me Gusta on Spotify.
