On Rebellion, Cristina Lazic showcases her production prowess.

The shesaid.so affiliate follows up her debut EP on the label, Burning,’ with the minimal techno-flavored EP Personal. She collaborates with vocalist Shar, who was born in Italy, to create a stunning, dance-floor-oriented EP that combines expressive vocals with slick music.

The title tune begins with a strong bassline and little percussion, allowing Shar’s seductive vocals to reverberate throughout the background. The following track, ‘You And Me ft. Shar,’ has an energetic melody that slinks through subdued rhythms. A sensual, slow-burning track ideal for an after-hours session. ‘Feel The Groove’ is the ultimate groover, as the title says. The tune, which Lazic describes as “groovy” and “with a male voice that seeks to portray a cheerful, minimal deep vibe, and perfectly matches the other three tracks,” aims to convey a deep mood. The Burning EP’s ‘Mirror (Set Opener) ft. Shar’ serves as the song’s closing track. Lazic creates a purring bassline and acid-tinged synth notes for the Personal version, making it the perfect dancefloor warmer-upper.

I consider ‘Personal’ a nice sequel to my previous EP on Rebellion. ‘Like ‘Burning,’ it includes a variety of genres and moods. In particular, the three tracks recorded with Shar – whom I met thanks to shesaid.so – continue my exploration of the concept of women empowerment – which is very important and “personal” to me, through the metaphors of time, controversy and self-reflection.
