With Zoe Kypri, Made By Pete rejoins Crosstown Rebels for the anthem ‘Horizon Red.’
Made By Pete, a DJ, and producer who was born and bred in London has blossomed in recent years, performing at events all over the world, including Off Week in Barcelona and Set Underground in Tulum. The UK artist has created a run of noteworthy releases via labels like Flying Circus, RADIANT, and Crosstown Rebels, garnering praise from notable figures like Damian Lazarus, Keinemusik, and Pete Tong, to mention just a few. He debuted on the imprint in 2018 with Jem Cooke for ‘So Long,’ and since then has made two more appearances. He opens the label’s 2023 schedule with R&B, jazz, and Neo-soul singer/songwriter Zoe Kypri for the riveting sounds of ‘Horizon Red,’ which label head Damian Lazarus will be remixing in the coming weeks.
While Pete’s Dub pares things back as spiraling synths and hazy atmospheres take hold for a late-night trip, ‘Horizon Red‘ is a dynamic track guided by rich chords, rolling organic percussion, and Kypri’s powerful yet graceful vocals. It is a journey that is euphoric and captivating and balances energetic builds with deeper moments.
We caught each other’s attention whilst playing sets at Tobacco Dock in London, and the admiration was mutual. We knew we wanted to create something that evoked feelings of the afterglow. That dissonant feeling at sunset when the horizon is so fiercely beautiful, yet the inevitability of the day falling behind the mountains is near. A simultaneous beginning and end.
